Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Adding obedience to list of things to train for bc someone said that rally and scent work aren't real sports so now I want an obedience title to impress her
Why does she think that? Are they not officially sports or is this her personal opinion? Because if it is her opinion then I don’t think you should spend your time trying to impress her! do obedience because you want to! Not because somebody said the other stuff isn’t a sport! If she can’t be impressed by what you are all ready doing is she really going to be impressed by anything else you do?

Maybe she's a dog snob?

When we were looking for our first Doberman, I got the name of two breeders. One was a local call (this was before cell phones were everywhere and you had to pay for long distance), so I called her first. We wanted a female, with the ears intact.

She flat out would NOT sell me a puppy with the ears down. "My dogs have such beautiful heads! Why would you want to ruin that look with those floppy ears?!"

Needless to say, I called the other breeder. We got a puppy from her.

RIP, Shadow. You were a wonderful, beautiful girl.

If I were in a breed like dobes or schnauzers or boxers I'd probably sell whatever to pet homes, if you don't want cropped ears who cares. If I were selling to a performance home where the dog and my kennel name would be out there in obedience or whatever, that might be a different story, but for pet homes, nah
Needless to say, I called the other breeder. We got a puppy from her.

Do you have any pictures? I looooove dobermans
