I have two Silkie Mamas sitting on one nest with six eggs. Their coop is medium size and they share it with another Silkie hen. I am keeping my Silkie roosters separate until they all move into the coop. I also have a tractor full of different breeds of chickens with a hen sitting on eggs. My question is should I move these hen mamas when the eggs hatch? Or will they be okay in the coop. Also can they go out with their mamas when I free range? Or should I take the chicks from the mamas and put them in the brooding box? That seems kind of mean to me. Can you tell this is my first time with brooding hens?
