Chicks and cows

My coops have not been used in years. What is the best way to sterilize them? Do I need to? Should I paint the insides? Also the "run" is just cow pasture and yes the cows have been there. Do I need to do anything to the soil area, before getting my chicks?

I doubt you have to do anything except predator proof it, big time. Make sure you have lots of full-time ventilation up high. I did 1 sq ft for each 4 chooks in mine, all above the 8 ft level.
