The location I am setting up my coup and run had a few bags of grass seed (rye and bermuda) split and spill on the ground, quite a bit of it actually. I plan on keeping our chicks in the brooder (will get them next week) for a while, but as they grow and need space, to give them access to the run. do i need to clean up those seeds or will it not bother the chickens?

thanks guys,

clay

Cover with a little dirt, and by then, it may grow into grass, in which case they'll take care of just fine!

Otherwise, I don't know.

rebelcowsnb do you ever have any success with that grass growing... i spread some seed out where my future run will be and with the weather like it is the seed will prob ne germinate before i put the chicks in. so question is will they eat it all up before it starts to grow?????
