I did get my babies yesterday. I am trying like crazy to rid the mice. What is the bucket method? The dang mice got into my dogs food bag...and today I got a huge bag of chick feed...so Don't want it contaminated.

Oh that is such a worry for me so I put all my chicken feeds in to metal trash cans to keep out the rodents and the feed safe .....

.....X2 on the vote for metal trashcans. I had originally put my feed in plastic trashcans because they came with wheels and the metal ones didn't. Then one morning I went into the shed to fill the feeders and was greeted by a floor covered with 2 inches or more of scratch, pellets and pine shavings. The mice had chewed a hole the size of Montana in the bottom of 2 of the plastic trashcans...in ONE night no less!!! (they also chewed into a big bale of shavings. No doubt to build a comfy home with...lol). Metal ones are pricier, but well worth the it!!!

Mice will kill chicks, my family raised parakeets, cockatiels and love birds and we had alot of babies and grown adults killed by mice, we would find the babies eaten and chewed on and the adults headless on the bottom of the avairy. We fianally got the mice undwr controll but had to end our bird buisness because of the expensive damage the mice did. They even killed our button quail and ring neck doves. Metal trashcans are a plus and is all I use for my girls. Never know what kind of parasites or deseases the mice are caring around my advice get rid of them as fast as you can.

This is one of the big reasons I use metal cans and I have had little problem with the metal cans and the lids stay on better in the high winds ....

Thank you ,,,, yes I have had this problem with plastic cans before also and the extra expense is really a money saver down the road and with a better fitting lid makes it nicer in the windy conditions and the sun tends not to make them soft and rot out so fast also a metal can will way out last a plastic can if it is not allowed to rust ....
