Chicks are 3 weeks.

what is chick grit? is that different than the regular crumbles?

TSC sells the baby chick grit from Manna Pro.

It's just finer than the larger grit for adult poultry.

If you've got sand, that will work, too.

They need the grit to grind up their food (since they do not have teeth).

Guess we'll be waiting a little bit for treats until I get into town to buy some grit. We do have some sand in the sandbox, but at only 3 weeks, I think they can wait a little longer.
I'm excited now that I know they can eat so many different things, it will be fun once they're older.

One of the best suggestions I got from this forum was to get a couple of suet containers and fill them with lettuce. The chicks can peck at the green and get small bits instead of worrying about the big pieces. I wrote about it at http://echochickens.blogspot.com/ because they really do love the lettuce.

Yes....this was a great idea and I went out and purchased one!!
