Chicks are hatching!! HELP

Another very good reason not to open the incubator and remove just hatched chicks is that the cheeping from the already piped/hatched birds encourage the rest of the clutch to try harder to join their already hatched brothers and sisters.
yes! The other chicks help encourage the ones still hatching.

UPDATE:: There are only 3 more eggs left in the incubator and one of them has a little hole/crack!!

It's pipped! Fab news. Could be 24 hours or more before anything else happens so be patient

Congrats!!! Sounds like the hatch is going well. Thanks for the updates. It's good to hear how that hatch is going.

Definitely be patient... These little guys are on their own time. I would leave them in well past the 21 day mark, just in case. I once pulled an egg around the 23 day Mark, and the chick was still alive. I had cracked it to see what went wrong. I felt so bad! Go with your gut on calling the bad eggs. Hope everyone else hatches!!!!

UPDATE: another chick hatched!! Only 2 more in the incubator, although I doubt there going to hatch. They should have been the first ones and they're about 5 days past there due date :( I'll wait one more day than burry them I guess.

It was an all around very successful first hatch though! I put 5 eggs in the incubator, and 3 hatched. I had no complications. All the chicks came out fast, and easy. And all are healthy! One little thing though...one looks like he may have splay leg?? It doesn't look nearly as bad as most cases I've seen. But maybe just slightly. Any thing I can or should do for the little fella? :)

The treatment for splay leg is the same whether mild or severe....pop a manacle on him/her made from micropore tape....cut a strip about 5mm wide, wrap one end round one ankle, other end round other ankle with a strip joining the two which is the same width as the chick's hips.....simple!

I would wait AT LEAST 24 to 36 hours for the little one to recover from hatch before manacling as it can be stressful and they often struggle against them for a while before getting used to them, draining their energy fast if they are too young.
