Not quite as clean looking as the one posted with the nuts on the threaded rods but I did make an adjustable heating pad stand for the chicks. Made from pvc and Clevis pins with holes drilled for adjustment. Not pretty but it does the job.

That's an interesting and creative twist!!
I assume you will cover the top HC so it doesn't get clogged with poops?
Is there something to stiffen the span so it doesn't sag?
Watch that duct tape, they can pick it loose then keep going
.......and then can get stuck to it.

I put the entire pad inside 24 inch hardware cloth but yes I will put a towel or something over the top in the next day or so. I didnt think about them picking the duct tape. I have this one adjusted so the back is much lower than the front, that way the chicks can go under as far as they wish and adjust the height themselves.

We just got the chicks this morning and my wife sent a pic a few minutes ago that 18 out of the 21 were under the heating pad and appeared to be asleep. The other 3 were out beside it running around.

Yep, an angle is great, don't make it too steep of an angle.
About 1.5" in back and 3" in front is a pretty good place good place to start.
Adjust as necessary based on your observations.
