Help! I bought some chicks a few weeks ago- I am not sure how old they are, the lady didn't really know for sure (said she didn't keep track) I think they are around 3 months old though. The lady already had them out in the coop with the other hens and didn't have a light on them. I went ahead and separated them from our hens and now have a red heat bulb on them, especially at night (our nights are around 30-40 degrees right now). The first night we didn't turn the heat bulb on and 4 died-the rest were all snuggled up against each other. I felt so bad for them.

Some of them are sneezing. I am feeding medicated Chick Crumbles and they have a nice bed to lay in. Someone told me I should put some vitamins in their water?? If that is the case what is the name? any help would be appreciated. (We have had 8 die already)

Go to the Feed store and get some Medicated chick Crumbles, Some vitamins for their water. And Vet Rx. Rub their face and their neck with the Vet Rx. IT has a vapor rub smell. It is real good stuff.

Is the ventalation good in their area? I've had chicks start sneezing because I didn't have enough airflow trying to keep them warm. Also if they are on shavings for bedding that was put down resently there is alot of dust around that can make them sneeze.
