If it's STARTER it's fine. Most of the Scratch and Peck line are whole grains. When you ferment starter it makes a bubbly mash. I add back dry to this to give it a good consistency. It does pack down so I "fluff" it several times a day so the chicks can eat it easily.

Id like to suggest these as an alternative to puppy pads because they can be washed and hung to dry. Later you can use them in the nesting boxes. You can buy them from Amazon or directly from Cackle.
