Day old chicks from Murray Macmurray arrived Sunday a.m. and the post office called to allow us to pick them up! We were so excited and still are. We've never done this before, as evidenced by the chicks preceding the completion of the coop! We have 25 Red Star girls and one unknown 'bonus' chick. When we pass muster to be able to post photos, we'll have to post for help identifying the loner. All are doing well after a few days in their cardboard brooder in the garage. The garage is heated and stays a constant 60 F, so the heat lamp doesn't have to work too hard to increase the temp for the chicks to 90-95F

All we can say is, why didn't we do this sooner?

I've gotten that call as well on a Sunday "Can you come and get these birds now?" (That's when I had pullets sent to me from a nearby breeder.)

Day old chicks are more fun, though. Aren't they cute?
