Chicks Arriving 2/22 !!!!

This is good to hear. I live in TN and there is a unusual warm up for the next few days highs of 60 and lows of 40 so I am not to concerned about the weather. They are shipping Sunday but Monday is Presidents Day. Does anyone know if this will delay the shipping?

Someone had mentioned that they called MMcM with this concern, but the hatchery was well aware of this. They said that for 2/20 orders, those chicks just went into the incubators a day late, and will shipped on Tues so they don't spend an extra day in the postal system.

I JUST GOT TO WORK AND THE POST OFFICE CALLED AND HAS THE CHICKS!!! What to do? I work 45 minutes away from the post office. Do you think it would be wise to wait it out until lunch and go get them in 3 hours. They were shipped on Monday so it has been 2 days.

I wouldn't wait if I worked that far away. But that's a personal decision and wether or not you are allowed to leave work without repercussions.

I could pull it off but it would not look good on my part

So...DID YOU GO? I am so thankful that I teach in a school system that has a winter break! Perfect timing for me!! Post pics when you have them. Mine all look great...SO EXCITED!!!

NOT HAPPY!!!!!! I went and picked them up yesterday morning. 5 dead. 2 died within minutes. And 8 were near death. After 2 hours of hand feeding them sugar water 6 started looking better. 2 more died within 5 hours and I woke up this morning to 3 more dead that I did not think was going to make it. 12 DEAD!!!
I would advise against ordering from MMcM. This is not ruff handling from the post office. These chicks have something wrong with them

McKenly5 I hope you have a better experience as mine was not fun and I will only deal local for now on.

Maybe you are right. The only ones that seem to be not fazed were the Road Island Red's. As soon as I put them in the brooder they were full throttle running around drinking, eating, scratching at the bedding. All the others were barely moving or face down. Had to hand feed them.
