Chicks Arriving 2/22 !!!!

NOT HAPPY!!!!!! I went and picked them up yesterday morning. 5 dead. 2 died within minutes. And 8 were near death. After 2 hours of hand feeding them sugar water 6 started looking better. 2 more died within 5 hours and I woke up this morning to 3 more dead that I did not think was going to make it. 12 DEAD!!!
I would advise against ordering from MMcM. This is not ruff handling from the post office. These chicks have something wrong with them

McKenly5 I hope you have a better experience as mine was not fun and I will only deal local for now on.

OH NO! Mine were all standard size birds, I wonder if that helped? I'm sure it wasn't weather though, as your probably traveled the same route as mine. I live in Ringgold, GA...just south of Chattanooga, TN.

I had one that was looking weak yesterday, so I mixed up some of this Sav-A-Chick stuff that I bought at TSC (it looks like orange powerade), and now she looks much better.

I thought McMurray usually shipped Saturdays...if that's the case, then your chicks were in the mail for three days...that could be why they are having such problems. The little ones have a harder time than the big ones.

I called when I realized that there was a holiday involved. Pat at MMcM told me that they delay the hatch by one day (set them a day later than normal) because of the Monday holiday. She said that instead of hatching Fri and then shipping Sat, they would hatch Sat and ship Sunday.

Mine were all standard size breeds and they are still doing well.

15 was the final count. I understand people have good success with having chicks mailed to them but I did not and will never do it again. This entire experience has depressed the hell out of me. Will only be dealing local for now on.
