Chick's beak overgrown ? **see pic**

A couple of my 5 week old Golden Comet pullets have a curved or maybe overgrown upper beak. I'm completely new to this! So I am wondering if it needs to be trimmed back, but I am very reluctant to do this. I just do not want it to cause issues with her eating or drinking.

You don't need to do any thing. Lots of chicks have that.

Once they start pecking at the ground, their beaks will wear down. You could put a couple rocks in the brooder. Chickens like to wipe their beaks when they eat. That will also help them keep their beaks naturally trimmed.

Cute! I should have read your replies before posting a pic of my girl with exact same beak! Glad to hear it’s normal!

Our main chicken run has a section of 18" square concrete pavers which I see my chickens using to regularly "strop" their beaks the way a barber strops his razor on a leather belt. If you have a brick laying around, try putting that where they can get to it and see if they use it to dress their beaks.
