Chicks being shipped?

What happened with your chicks? Ours were shipped Mon and arrive on Thur, 2 DOA and lost 7 more within 24 hours. I'm sad for what the birds went thru. Our postal service in the past has always handled our chick orders really well. This time they really dropped the ball and I'm very disappointed. Not sure I will have chicks shipped again unless they straighten out the mess that the USPS has become.
I won't ship any after having a similar experience. But so many people have great success.

We ordered 27, they shipped 28. We got them Friday, lost 7 in shipping and then they just kept dying after we got them. We’re down to 6. I am not doing that again either unless things are way better.

I'm so sorry, @hilltopchicks77. :(

I think the USPS has been hit hard by challenges caused by the pandemic, and I'm guessing that's why we're having some issues with shipping right now. An influx of surplus packages and there's not enough staff/infrastructure to handle them. I'm sure they're doing everything they can to meet the increased demand.

That doesn't make it any less heartbreaking. I'm expecting 15 chicks in April and I'll be so sad if they don't make it. I hope your remaining 6 thrive!

What shipping (next day or 2 day) are you choosing to have the chicks sent by? It may be apples to oranges, but I had a rooster overnighted to me via USPS that actually arrived the next day (mississippi to oregon).
