chicks dont like any treats :(

Alot of pet stores carry live mealworms. After smelling the dries ones I know why mine won't touch them. There are vendors here. Happy Hen Treats sells the dried ones and someone sells the live ones but can't remember the name.

I tried posting back to all you yesterday but the sight was down for maintenance LOL you are all so funny. Ilove the help and fun replies.Thank you all so much. I buy 100 meal worms at a time in a small container from Petco/Petsmart. I tried some treats cut up small yesterday and tapped my finger in the dish so they could hear and they came running and started gobbeling it up. Chasing each other tweeting loudly! LOL awesome..

Yay! Glad you got something to work.

Give them watermelon! My hens will do anything for it!

With my chicks, who are 6 weeks old now, I find that I must try things over and over. I cut up old strawberries that my spoiled children wont touch, and it took three tries before one brave soul went up to the terrifying red chunk and took a peck. I swear watching these young chicks is like seeing a bunch of teenage girls, when one tries something and likes it, they all jump on the band wagon, and FAST! I guess just like our children, individual tastes vary, and as we did with them, we will learn what our new feathered kids like as we go along.

My girls favorite at the moment is plain yogurt with chick grit mixed in. They tear it up! I also have been finding that white mullet seeds sprinkled all through a clean brooder pen keeps them busy for a long while.

Enjoy the rest of the summer everyone!

Just wait until they get older.. they will eat anything! My chickens were very picky as chicks but now they take everything I give them!

I had the SAME problem. Besides mealworms and live bugs, NO interest. Then someone told me that I had to show them how to peck at it. With my finger, so I did. I'd tap whatever it was with my finger and say peck, peck, peck (mostly for my benefit, lol). And, it worked! Now they love yogurt and oatmeal, oh and grits! Remember, they are babies and have no idea what you just put in front of them!

Mine love the corn I have left over after cooking it as well. In fact they love it about as much as watermelon and mealworms.
