I have a chick and 1 zipping. Nothing so far in the other 4.

i had to open the bater to add water and i heard chirps...i'm very excited now i hope its really close to seeing it pip 24th day god i pray it will be soon

Mine were due on the 6th as well. I never heard a chirp until this morning. This evening there were still no external pips so I decided to step in. I started with 15 eggs and I have been able to save 5 so far with 3 more chirping and there heads out of the shell now. The others were dead in the egg when i opened them.

YAY YAY YAY

I just came in from checking my hen and I peeked under her with the flashlight and see a tiny little pair of legs....one of the chicks hatched!!!! All I can see is the little legs and butt nuzzling underneath mom. I guess the other egg hasn't hatched yet because she is still sitting. I am concerned though, it is about 48 - 50 degrees out but she is in the garage so I was wondering if I should put a heat lamp nearby or will she keep the babies warm?

I am soooo excited I want to see this little chick better but mom is quite testy about me messing with her. I hope the other egg hatches tonight. I am worried about them getting too cool out there though. But maybe mom will keep everyone warm, she has done a great job so far.
