Chicks eat rooster.please help

I like to feed 20% protein Flock Raiser. The higher protein is better for those that are molting, and helps offset any low protein forage or treats. Plus, the high calcium levels of layer feed can be harmful to roosters and other birds that aren't actively laying.

Put Blue Kote on it. Chickens see that red and go for it. I wouldn't put him back with them until the feathers are completely grown back, and look like normal feathers again. And, your hens need higher protein. I feed Flock Raiser, and keep oyster shell in a cup where the hens can access it any time they want. Flock Raiser has over 20% protein, and the chickens seem to really like it. Go easy on the treats.
