Chicks eating cicadas and shells

Hey, I gave a cicada shell to my chicks and they loved it, went crazy! Are the shells just as good as the live ones for them? I gave 6 chicks, how many wiuld be too many to feed them? Thanks!!

The cicada shells are made of chitin a high fiber I don't think they will harm them . I agree with 3KBs . As for mow many is too much I don't know .
