Chicks eating feathers shed by other chicks!

Really that Grower is less in protein than a layer feed I'm a bit confused?..
Grower is usually about 16 to 17 percent...
I feed Grower and never layer feed I put oyster shell out in a separate bowl...

The one I am currently using is; it's also cheaper....lol.

My immature birds consume even flight feathers at every opportunity, even when dietary protein levels are well above the minimum needed for maximum growth rate. Even the free-range birds getting their fill of insects do it.

My birds all eat feathers, my oldest rooster will find them and tell the girls "eat this" and they do. I see absolutely no issue with this, in fact when I process I give the feathers back to them and they eat most of them. Nice cheap protein source.
What else would I do with all those feathers, they dont compost well,,,
