Chicks eating weird things

Whenever I let my 2 month old chickens graze in the yard, they eat a lot of wood and Dead Leaves, sticks, acorn shells just a lot of things I didn't think they would eat. Is this okay or normal?

Chickens are omnivores.

My chickens are 4 and they still eat weird things. Your chicks may not be eating it, just pecking at it. Plus the try eating things so that they learn what to and what not to eat

Yes...Definitely normal eating habits and they try almost everything....Silly Birds.

My chickens will catch field mice if they see them. Also baby snakes. Won't eat the snake just kill. Wont go near a big one though. Just screams at it lol.

It is funny to see them pecking a piece of stryofoam or a paper plate; Last week I used a chain saw on a plexi-glass sheet and they tried to eat any shavings that got near them!
