Chicks eight hours in cold surviving?

Hey everyone. Sorry for the late reply. Five chicks hatched under the broody but she ate one so i had to take them away from her. The four of them are all happy and healthy!

Some broodies will sit tighter than a tick on a dog, then do an abrupt turnaround when the chicks hatch and motherhood goes out the window. They’re just done. Others are iffy about sitting on eggs but will adopt anything that moves. I’m so glad that you didn’t give up on those eggs and were able to intervene when she wouldn’t care for them properly. Thanks for the update - and the lesson! It ain’t over till it’s over....those eggs can be pretty resilient! Congrats!!
