It was so cute! They were so happy! I have a 6 mo German wirehaired pointer and BOY she had murder on the brain when she saw the chicks (we took her out on leash). I think we will have to have her inside when the chicks eventually get their free range time!

A question while I have your attention:
Chicks are at 1.5-2ish weeks. Should I add a small amount of sand/chick grit for them? I fear if I’m bringing them outside, they are obviously scavenging and eating things that aren’t the medicated chick feed but I currently haven’t given them any grit. And when can I try giving them treatI don’t want to give them the hard boiled egg.. it feels like bad juju lol.

you can provide chick grit, but they dont really need it yet. Make sure that the grit is made for chicks our it can cause an impacted crop.

You might see them pecking at the ground. One of the things they are pecking is grit, small pebbles they can use to grind things in their gizzard. To me that is a big advantage of getting them out on the ground, they can get their own grit. You don't have to worry about giving them grit, they took care of that themselves.

So cute! What's wrong with egg? My chicks go crazy for scrambled egg. Give them access to chick grit just in case. They'll know whether they need it or not.
I know they like it, it just feels weird to me to feed them that when its an egg of their own species. Its irrational thinking, I know. 💁‍♀️
