Crazy! I would never have thought you could get them from the grocery store.

The health food store gets local eggs, the farm the store gets the eggs from is a mile from my house, I have gone over and picked up eggs directly before.

That's awesome! I guess trader Joe's sells fertile eggs now and people here in AZ have been hatching them.

Our lonely little chick hatched this morning, when do they first poop? It has been drinking fine but hasn't eaten anything yet. I was wondering when normally they go to the bathroom for the first time. I checked it's vent it looks good and as I was checking it did poop a little bit of a creamy yellow color and clear liquid. I'm not sure if that's normal or not. The poor thing was the only surviving one out of all the other eggs under my Broody hen, and he was shrink-wrapped because there was not enough humidity in this Arizona Heat. I had to help assist it a bit on hatching as well, but but it did pretty well on its own.View attachment 1388825

--and kept it warm in my bra until the incubator was running now the delayed egg is currently hatching.

That is an awesome idea. *giggle* We need to invent something. Chicks rule! Heehee!

Up date on the momma hen, she has her feed store chicks one 2 weeks old, and 5 one week old chicks, and 2 that were from health food fridge. just 2 days old.View attachment 1394183

Loving the name "Peep"--my neighbor tried hatching a few eggs; the only one that made it was born on Easter, which happened to be her teen-aged son Lawson's birthday. Lawson declared, "It is MY birthday, and so he shall be named Cheep Cheep." LOL Cheep Cheep has actually turned out to be a "she," but it's all good. Got a ton of teen-aged chickies running around here right now, between me and my neighbor (who happens to be my best friend and also chicken-crazy, yay). We need to get some photos of all these kids to share with y'all!

We had a rooster named Pip. I gave him to a man who wanted chicks, his name was Kip. He liked that.
