Today my little ones took their first trip outside the brooder. I put a temporary fence up around one of my raised vegetable beds that is winding down for the summer. After the initial shock and huddle, the chicks investigated and appeared to have a romping good time. Here they are:
Fig says, "Mom are you still there?"
Buttercup wants to try a bit of Easter Egger fluff...
The grass is always greener...
Swiss chard with a side of aphids...
Investigating is better...in a group
Piccadilly, the Easter Egger, and Bug, the Splash Polish, looking very dignified in this new land
Bea, the Buff-Laced Polish, is just fine and dandy
Piccadilly voices her approval of the flock's first expedition
