Chicks foot is falling off

HI - we have a 2 month old chick who's foot seems to be dying - I took her out along with the rest of the flock, and she was limping - I was able to catch her and bring in the house - she was tired from hopping - He leg is turning black and Im afraid the others might kill her so I took her into house - in cat carrier - with food and water - any thoughts? We dont have many bird vets in CT...

Can you post a picture ? Do you have any idea what happened to the foot ? One legged birds can have a good quality life,

not sure what happened - either he got it caught somewhere or attacked -
we are still in summer mode - very humid!!

I dont have a pic yet - I can post later today - we have a rat issue - was thinking maybe he got bit - she sleeps with mamas separate from the flock - Im hoping the others will leave her alone and not hurt her - we may have to amputate it... poor little thing
