Hi,
We adopted 3 chicks from our first graders class project. Any ideas on their breed or gender?

Thanks!

I have no idea on breed but those are really interesting looking birds. I'd love to see them fully grown. Good luck identifying them.

WELCOME TO THE BYC ARGYLE!!!

The possible crested breeds, since your chicks show some cresting, are Houdans (5 toes, bearded), Crevecoeurs (bearded, 4 toes & black shanks), Sultans (5 toes, feathered shanks, V comb) and Polish (bearded or non, 4 toes, clean shanks).

Looking at the first chick, I am going to say it's a polish cross, because shank color and feather color is incorrect for a pure buff polish. The second chick I can't see shanks/feet on but I would say a gold laced polish cross. But crossed with what, though, the world may never know.

They are very cute!

There Crosses..
I would say a cross with a Polish. The first one has a Single Comb and what looks to be Green-ish leg. A Polish would have a V - Comb with Blue legs.

Hi again,
I found out from the teacher that they are an Araucana mix. It will be very interesting to see how the crests turn out.
