Chicks gone lame

Hello,

i had a new chick go lame a few weeks ago. Started dragging its leg and the leg seemed to swell at the knee and twist around a bit. This week a second one had had it happen. Is there any chicken disease that causes something like this? They have not been dropped or handled except for brooder cleaning. So I don’t think it is an injury.

My friend hatched two chicks early this year one male one female. I am not quite sure when but the female went lame probably sometime 1-3 months of age. After a few weeks/month or so I think she got better. The lameness seemed to be up in thigh. Hope this helps and hope your chicks get better.
