i just cut up some strawberries (tiny), mixed them into some plain yogurt with rye, barley, oats and wheat, and gave it to my four week olds. the response was unprecedented. they are squealing, running all over their enclosure, walking in it, landing in the bowl. even georgia, who has feathers on her feet, isn't concerned that she is up to her ankles in the stuff. they have trampled their shavings into it, but they don't seem to mind. i love to watch them wipe their beaks in the bedding. a good treat is even able to quiet henrietta for a few minutes. she vocalises constantly. she is healthy, and curious, just a cry baby i suppose. you should hear her when somebody hops onto her inadvertently, as they tend to do every few seconds, or when i pick her up~ she sets up a yowl that can be heard from down the road. now goodness has a piece of cabbage, and is running all around, chirping, "i have it! come get me!" i love it when they play that game. their behaviour is fascinating. when they hear a strange noise, they all stop, and stand stock still, and strrretch their little necks out. they are full and content now, and having an afternoon nap. oops~canycorn just woke, and jumped into the middle of the cozy, cuddled group~ and they're up and busy again, scratching, pecking, chirping, skirmishing, flapping, practising flying...this is great.
