First time chick buyer here I got some chicks one of em had some poop that has hardened and I can't just wipe it off with toilet paper should I be concerned or is there a way to clean it

If it's blocking the vent or catching fresh poop, the best way I found was to gently rinse the poopy spot under a thin stream of warmish water, cradling the chick and very carefully rubbing until it dissolved. Then a pat dry with a drop of baby oil on the feathers under the vent to let other poops slide off easier. Congrats on the new chicks!

Just more options , baby oil or Vaseline I used coconut oil and polysporin when the butt was really red and sore

Check them many times a day for this ...

If the dirty butt continues you may want to try ACV with the "mother" (Bragg) in their water (1T/gal) . Check their butts daily, clean off with warm wet rag. I do fermented feeding (FF) less nasty butts and alot of benefits.

Yes, they can die. If not seen to, the poop will dry over their cloaca (aka vent) and they get backed up and die. Best to deal with it as soon as possible.
