For those of you who ask " will my chicks still hatch, the power went out" These little guys are proof that they will most likely be fine.

I had two pips yesterday morning as I left the house for a day trip. When we returned 9 hours later there were two out and the power had been off about 2 hours. I believe the first one may have hatched before the power went out, it was nice and fluffy. The second one was still a little sticky. The third egg had a pip. I went about trying to get my emergency double boiler/candle incubator set up and just as the temps got to where they should be, power came back on. I took the one egg out of my bra and put it in the incubator and this morning the little chick was out. ( the one with fluffy butt showing)

My DH is not a huge fan of my passion for chickens but he did hold the two babies for an hour while I got all the candles and lamps going in the house and the emergency incubator set up. Babies seem fine this morning.

OH, these are the three eggs I was able to hatch from my attempt at AI. Mottled Cochin Frizzle over a Blue Silkie, F-1 Sizzle.. YAY

You are amazing! The things you share with us on BYC... what a teacher!

That is VERY nice feathering on that little ones foot! They are lovely! Congrats on a new generation of Sizzles....and successful A.I.

Keep up the good work.

Claudia

Congrats on the NEXT generation !!! I'm glad they made it!!!! You've had enough rough luck for a year or two. I swear it's always something. Glad the AI took. I haven't tried that one yet.

I have had power outages a couple times, but not when they were hatching, both were mid hatches. That is amazing.
