Chicks hatched on day 19

RonoKT, I'll add a pic on how I do lots of eggs. This is from others on BYC that had the idea, not me, but happy to pass along. Use egg cartons and cut to fit in your bator. Then under the bator put a book at one end so the device is tipped up. Now 3x's a day remove the book and slid it to the other end and prop it up.

Thanks for that, it's very clear. I will give this a try next time I incubate. It must be pretty cosy in there at hatch!

I laid the eggs on their sides and took out the egg cartons when it was lockdown. Made more for hatching

Every time I've had an egg hatch early like day 19, the chick ended up being a cockerel. You should try to keep track of what gender yours turns out to be to see if early one was a boy!

I had a broody hen hatch 2 of 6 eggs last summer, the first hatched on day 19 and the second on day 20 - both were pullets and very healthy!
