Yay, the little ones are here, just arrived this morning! <3 We'll have to wait until tonight to stick them under Dory, and hopefully she'll take them.

However, reading around on the internet has gotten me paranoid.

We went ahead and got the four chicks vaccinated for Mareks disease before Meyer sent them out. Reading up has gotten me nervous; can I put these babies with Dory? I understand that they will not shed the disease due to vaccination but I'm still seeing lots about isolation time, and am nervous. Dory has never been vaccinated and is a favorite hen whose health I do not want to risk.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I guess we will have to take our chances!

i cannot answer this question fully for you, here are some links that may help you along

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/39918/mareks-vaccine/10 - look at the first 2 pages on this thread, more if you wish

https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/135247/st-johns-wort - a possible cure for merek's.

http://www.merckmanuals.com/vet/poultry/neoplasms/mareks_disease_in_poultry.html - information on the disease and vaccinations

most adults should be immune to it, but i believe they say to keep vaccinated chicks away from adults for 10 days. - this is by memory, and should be researched.
