Been getting everything ready and finally paid for them but their estimated arrival won't be until Tuesday, May 14, 2019 through Thursday May 16, 2019 according to my confirmation email.

One's I have been wanting for years and now the time is right.

I ordered 3 Dominique females plus a Dominique roo, then all females of 1 Welsummer, 1 Speckled Sussex, 1 Lavender Orpington, 1 Buff Orpington and 1 Assorted Rare Female as a surprise. My birthday is at the end of May, May 27th to be exact and I turn 55. That Lavender Orpington is my special birthday gift to me but still it was all I could do to pay 23 bucks for 1 baby chick. Wowza, these must be some really special birds.

Anyway, will be posting pics on here and probably lots of questions since I haven't had chickens in a loooonnnng time when I get them in. :thumbsup

Congratulations, and happy early birthday! What a great present!
:wee

I am excited for my new littles, too - but I have 42 days yet to go! I had to order mine in advance because silkies sell out quickly on MPC.

You'll have to post pics when they arrive!!!

YES! Great advice. This was a mistake I made and had to work like mad to get it done in the icky, icky summer heat.

I made this mistake too last year. I feel like it's a mistake a LOT of chicken-keepers make, lol. Six weeks in the brooder seems like a long time, until it isn't, and it's hot and the chicks are four weeks old and bored and already ready to go outside.

I have a picture somewhere of hubby working on the run with a juvenile chicken on his shoulder. The weekends fly by and everything takes longer than you planned.

There was one member here who, no joke, had pullets very near laying age still in her bathroom. Life gets in the way, sometimes.

So, I know it isn't the most fun advice but I keep saying it anyway because maybe it will help someone avoid this common issue.

How exciting! Mine are due to arrive on between tomorrow and Thursday. I placed my order back in December and the waiting game has been tough! I ordered a blue splash marans, golden cuckoo marans, blue cochin, and a jubilee orpington. The jubilee was my birthday present to myself as well! :)

We made the mistake twice, but it worked out fairly well both times, lol. My current chicks just got moved to their new coop though they've got a bit of an age range.
