Sure will, Just make sure that light is very secured---I even use a couple long screws screwed in a little on each side of the clip to make sure it can not get knocked off. If you only got the few in the pic---I personally would put a 100 watt bulb in place of the red 250 watt and clip it towards the back end of their spot--pointing straight down about 10/12" off the floor(think of a Mother hen----just a spot about the size of a plate is all she heats). I personally never use the red heat bulbs and I have raised/brooded 1000's and 1000's.

Ok. All I have is the 13 chicks, BSL, and I'm a newbie. They are running out of space in the kennel I had them in so I set this up today. I will have to do a little work to be able to put the light in the back. Also when you say 100 watt bulb do you mean just a regular light bulb?

Exactally, not a twisted, compact bulb a regular 100 watt---being Honest I do a smaller area than you got yours built and I usually only use a 40 or 60watt bulb---just enough to give them a little heat for the cooler nights---I keep it unplugged on the warmer days and I only use the heat/bulb for a couple more weeks till they get feathered good. Look at this---over 100 in a 1/2 cut barrel with only one 75 watt bulb burning on this 40 degree day, only 2 75 watts burning on the 30s degree nights----they did good at only 1 week old when they were put out there---outside so to speak. They run under it when I went in to do a quick rake---but were back out as soon as I backed out.

A regular light bulb means an incandescent bulb, NOT an LED or compact fluorescent, these don't put out heat.....

Hey Sue----they do put out heat but just a small amount---a CF rated at 60 watts puts out about 10 or 15 watts at the most----so no don't use them.
