Chicks in egg not moving on hatch day

Hello there!

I have some quail eggs that I've been incubating, and about two days ago I could see them all moving in the shell. But today (hatch day) I candled them and they had all stopped moving.

We had a power outage last night but it only lasted like 6 minutes, and other than that it's been at a consistent temperature (between 37 degrees celsius and 38 degrees celsius.) Is it normal for them to move less on hatch day? Do you guys think they're dead ? i'm gonna keep them in the incubator for at least another week if they don't hatch but I just wanna know what you guys think.

Sometimes they get really still before the pip. Most people get real upset when they see a pip then no movement for a while, which is normal also.

I would definitely put them back in the incubator and increase the humidity as how it needs to be on lockdown. You really don't see much movement when they're that big but it's always safe to keep them in there longer and see what happens. Don't lose hope!

Thanks! I've been trying raise the humidity all morning, but it's not working very well :/ . so if anybody has any advice on that I'd love to hear it!

What are you using to increase humidity? I usually put sponges.

I'm using a large sponge in a bowl of water right under the heat lamp

Are you able to fit any other sponges? lol are you seeing any condensation on the incubator?

It's a pretty big sponge and it's taking up half of the incubator (it's a small homemade incubator), and nope there's no condensation. The most the humidity gets to is 25%, and I'm not sure if that's enough. But we've started misting it with a little bit of water about every 2 hours and that gets the humidity up to around 35-40% for maybe half an hour to an hour.

Do you add warm to hot water? it usually increases humidity fast. I'm running out of ideas lol
