New England.. the cold part.
I'm keeping our chicks in the Hot Closet... where our boiler and hot water heater live. It tends to stay around 88 degrees in there, so I've just got a regular 60W bulb hanging in their bin. They seem very happy, and are actually not hanging out under the light, but wandering around the GIGANTIC tupperware container I've got shoehorned in the small space. I figured it was a good idea to utilize all that heat, rather than spending a lot of money on a lot of wattage! Yay!

Good choice! I've got mine in with our water heater too. It's been awesome and a bit of an electricity saver as I was able to get rid of the heat lamp a little sooner than I otherwise could have

Right? I figure that once they don't need the light, the room will still be hot, and then I can open the door a little bit to keep it a little cooler... etc.... until I can throw them in the teenager coop!
