Hello, I am getting some new chicks mailed to me in two days! Last time I raised chicks it was cold and we always had a heat lamp on them. Now though, it's crazy hot and I had planned to brood the chicks outside in the coop. They would be stuck in a brooder unable to go outside because I don't want to mix them with the older chickens for quite some time. I live in Texas and it's 95-100 almost every day. Next week it's even supposed to get up to 102. So now my concern is that the chicks will get too hot! Also at night, for about 3 hours it may get down to around 75 before warming back up again. Would the chicks be ok snuggling or do I need to put a heat lamp on them at night? It seems so silly to even consider using a heat lamp in this crazy heat... Advice?
