After living in a 5ft kiddie pool for the first month of their lives, we finally moved the chicks to the garage in their permanent brooder/grow out pen. We didn't expect it to be so large... but it sorta turned out that way. L0L. It's 4ft wide, 4ft tall and 8ft long. The chicks seem to be much more content with all the space! Enjoy the pictures.

Cyn, I think at least 2 of the 5 are pullets, which I am perfectly fine with. I was hoping to get a few cockerels out of your hatch to hopefully have a roo that takes after his daddy's good looks. One of my little boys is so brave, he's always the first to run right up to you when you enter the brooder and doesn't mind being handled at all. To answer Kathy's question now...

Kathy, I've got a dozen Delaware eggs that I put in the incubator on the 21st, along with 3 BBS Orp eggs! I'm getting another dozen + Delawares from Bill Braden that are suppose to be here around Thursday, they'll go into the incubator with the others. I'll be attempting a staggered hatch, so wish me luck!

Some of my older chicks had already started to try roosting on the sides of the kiddie pool they were in, so I decided that it was probably a good idea to include it for them. I just hope the younger guys that can't make it up there yet don't decide to sleep underneath the roost...
