chicks in winter?

will my roo still mate with my hen and have hatching eggs in winter? (winter here is about 30-40 degrees on average)

the hens and roo are in an outside coop and raise their babies in the coop. They are all silkies

I don't have any silkies, just a variety of DP breeds, but I got fertile eggs all winter--not as many eggs, but they were all fertile. I was really hoping to have a broody over the winter so I could have POL pullets in the spring, but nobody wanted to cooperate. I understand that silkies are brooding machines so maybe you will have more luck then I did with that. You could always use a bator, but I didn't want to do that because the idea of brooding chicks inside was just not appealing. It's easy enough to keep the brooder clean, but the dust is outrageous, especially when they get a bit bigger and start to feather out.
