Chicks just arrived from MPC!

I just got boring ol' leghorns and RIR from MPC since when I ordered them months ago, did not know what to get and just picked from the 'best layers' selection. I've since ordered a few of the more colorful breeds for July - My MPC chicks look much healthier as well than the ones I saw at TSC and so far are doing great (one week + 1 day).

congrads,
I just got my cutie 6 girls yesterday at a LFS(Local Farm Store), the breeds are: Ameracaunas, Buff Orpingtons, 1 Gold-Laced Wyandottes, and 1 Silver-Laced Wyanodottes, and all of them are just so darn cute, have been putting sugar in the water as well, they seem to like it, and I have a Christian Music Channel on softly so they get used to noises. I saw on a different web site that you could by the 2nd week give them fresh herb to eat and scratch at, could you incorperate grass clippings instead of herbs??? all answers are welcomed thanks for the help.

Don't over due on the sugar, it's mainly for when they first get in for being shipped and sugar can cause Hypoglycemia just good ole fresh water with a tiny bit of ACV is enough or poultry vitamins. I don't know where you live but if you have fresh grass then go out and cut a piece of sod with your shovel and bring it into them, they will have a blast scratching around in it and will munch on the green on top. My chicks loved finely chopped romaine lettuce too. Congrats on your new chicks enjoy,.

Thanks Ms. Lydia I will stop today with the sugar water, and maybe have my Birthday Boy cut some clippings, since it has been raining in N. Cal. for over 24 hrs. the sod will be soaking wet. Cindy A.

I think that would be a good idea to wait then. lol make sure to cut the grass super tiny for the babies and always off chick grit when feeding anything other than crumble, unless you can give them the dirt too, then they could get their own grit. and don't forget to post pics.
