Chicks just hatched!

[Chocolate Silkie Queen]

I had put some eggs in the incubator and also added eggs from a momma hen that accidentally got them pushed out! Not all of hers have hatched yet as they were in different stages. It was a guessing game on if it’s silkie or Phoenix eggs and now it’s looking that it might be both and a mix of them?

This one hatched 7/28
At first looked very much silkie aside from having very small leg feathers and only one foot having 5 toes. Now it’s growing feathers and definitely not full silkie!

Looks silkie however only 5 toes on one foot and if I’m guessing the mom correctly she LOVES my Phoenix rooster so I’m still waiting on feathers from this one to see. I know silkie aren’t always bred the best and I have several that don’t meet the standards (this one’s mom is a very badly bred silkie) I keep them cause they do have silkie traits I love that would better my Blue silkie rooster!

More than likely a full Phoenix my rooster doesn’t share his hens however I have seen my satin silkie sneak a hen or two.

This one was a shock to see and I also so upset with myself over as I took the two out after both were dried and later saw this one in the incubator! I got lucky that it hatched!! Looks like a full silkie 5 toes on each foot and feathered legs! I will get pictures of this one soon it’s head still isn’t fluffy like it’s body yet.

Here is an update on the chicks. I’m really thinking my Phoenix rooster is the dad to all babies as they’re getting the Phoenix tail look. If y’all have any tips on how to get them to stand better for pictures please help!!

Silkie/Phoenix
Looks like a Mauve just like mom still waiting on the red fluff to feather out.

Silkie/Phoenix black with some red on the wings really excited to see this one fully feathered!!

Silkie/Phoenix My guess is this one will look more like a Phoenix. Definitely not full Phoenix even though the color is there it was wayyyy to fluffy (silkie fluff) when born

Silkie/Phoenix If this one doesn’t turn out to be a rooster I will have one very dominant hen on my hands that or she loves to pose. Black with some red on wings

Full Phoenix had issues with legs when born but tied them together and after 24 hours it was walking normal. Super sweet and the last one to hatch

This one has me stuck as it looks like a dark blue silkie but definitely a mix. My Phoenix rooster is a Black Breasted Red so I’m not sure how he would be the dad even with the mom being a Mauve. I’m thinking maybe my chocolate mottled Satin Silkie possibly is dad?
