I have three pulleys and they are a few months old. Last night, I found one of them dead. My main concern is introducing these pulleys with my other adult girls. If a hen kills another hen by pecking, will they develop a murderous trait, or have insatiable bloodlust? Probably a stupid question, but I was told that if a hen kills another hen, it has to be put down. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry about your chick.

Are you sure it was killed by a hen and not just pecked after death?

I have a hen that killed the chicks of another hen, but she doesn't attack the adults or her own chicks. I'm not sure how it works. What lead up to the death? Did it seem sick? Were they moved to a new pen? Is it really hot outside?

I hope they stay healthy. Best of luck!

My chick emerald must of been trampled and is laying on her side unable to walk. We have gave her water and she eats barley any food we have her with a friend and she is breathing heavy please reply

What breed is she? What age is she? Does she seem to have any broken bones? What temperature is it outside?

I hope I can help.

He had a hear lamp on her, but we are holding her her mouth was open and she is not breathing with her mouth open bit is heavily breathing

I had exactly the same thing happen to my silkie, Mavis. She was around a month of age and had just been moved to the coop with her mother and the adults. A chicken trying to leap up onto a perch must have landed on her. Mavis was laying on the ground, gasping for breath, near dead. We brought her inside and helped her calm down. She started breathing normally. We had to force feed her a few days until she got the hang of eating on her own. She suffered brain damage, as it pretty common with silkies, because of their crested heads. She was a nice pet though, even if she walked in circles.

Mavis

Yes she is a lot a lot smaller than Mavis and she's the first chick we have hatched

I'm not 100% sure of the death, but they didn't seem sick. I have the two pullets isolated in their own completely closed coop, so it wasn't a predator. Plenty of food, and water, and yesterday I let them both out for their playtime in the yard, just like everyday. I'm sad about Hawkeye dying, but more concerned if capt. America is going to be murderous again(my kiddo named them). I'm also going to keep capt. Quarantined to see if it was disease, but my other four mature girls all seem fine.
