I have 5 chicks that are about three and a half weeks old now. They have been using a regular jar water dish so far, but I also installed a nipple waterer into their brooder the other day and removed the other water dish. I have shown all 5 chicks how to use it, touched their beaks to it, flicked it, etc. I have seen all 5 of the chicks use it in my presence. I've even filled the water bottle with ice cold water so they would be attracted to the condensation. Out of everything I've done, they still won't drink out of it even after having no other water dish all day (I can tell by looking at the water level in the bottle). What else can I do to make them drink out of it?

If you're absolutely positive that you've seen them take drinks out of the water nipples, stay determined!!!! Do not put the old tray-style waterers back in with them....trust me, they'll use the new system...determination on your part wins the game!

Just remove all other water no one has ever posted that their chickens died of thirst after switching to nipples.

I just recently went threw this. With the nipples so.ce there is no waste they won't go threw as much water. Don't worry about condensation attracting them they are curious enough to peck it to figure it out. Once one gets a drink the others will follow.
