chicks leg HELP!!

I've had chicks hatch like that to. Usually about 1 or 2 out of one hundred chicks. I'm wondering what causes it. I've thought it might be connected to: to high of humidity during the last days of incubation.
Sorry for your loss.

i always wonder y this happns to. i had six eggs. 3 hatched by themselfs. the other 3 piped. one died in the shell. one had blood in the pipped area so i removed a little shell and saw the chick hit a vein. bleeding stoped and i put the egg back. the other egg wasnt doin anything but had a pip. i removed some of the shell where the air sack would be because it wasnt making any noise and was worried. the chick had thik yellow goo on it. i removed the gooo from its face so it could breath and put it back. by morning the chicks havent moved from how they were and were kinda dry. the humidity was 75%. i reoved more shell being carful of blood and put the back. one kicked its way out, the other didnt do anything. by noon the other was out and somewhat walking. the other made no progress so i helped it out. its foot was messed up and it was covered in hard yellow goo like stuff. i removed the gunk and put it back. it died tonight. the others doing good. wont open its eyes tho but is walking and chirping. stumbles tho and wont stand all the way. Idk what could have caused this. these chicks were too big for there shells.

That's hard to go through. I'm sure you did your best. In nature the little guys wouldn't have stood a chance nor would they have been at all comfortable. At least they had you to help them a little. Sorry that happened to you.

I just had the same thing happen with one of my chicks a couple of weeks ago. I read online that you could make a splint for its foot. So I did and it worked. I bought 3M transpore tape at walgreens. Taped its foot flat on the tape spreading all toes. Then I put a piece on the top of the foot to hold toes straight. I kept it on three days. Two of the days it was in incubator and last day in brooder. It worked and now is doing great!!! Good luck.
