Put a timed light in there. Chicken have poor sight in the dark. As it gets dark the migrate to where they can see better or follow the crowd. Have it turn on before sunset and off 30 min after. If you have mains power in the coop this is easy to do with a smart bulb. If not there are several solar powered lights that will do this. Just not as precise. Does not need to be timed either. If you don't mind taking a battery powered light out there/turn it on before sunset and go take it out/turn it off after. They will eventually get used to it.Hello!!!
My chicks are 10 weeks old and will not go in the coop at night. We had a chick pass in there. Could that be why they don’t want to go in? They spent a week in there already. Thanks
Good questions^^^ for @lmowrey73They spent a week locked in, or spent a week with you putting them in each night?
Did they go in and sleep in there before the chick passed?
Any photos of the coop from outside? Does it have a ramp and if so what's the angle on it? How many windows and vents? Is it hotter inside or out? Can they see and navigate inside at sunset with the available light in the coop?
