I integrated my 12 and 14 week old chicks into the main flock and coop a couple of weeks ago but they are not yet sleeping and roosting in the coop. My run is predator proof and has a roof, so they are protected from the weather. I have a ladder and several roosting bars out in the run to entertain them. The chicks are roosting on these during the night. I thought eventually they would just get the hang of it and go into the coop with the other hens but that doesn’t seem to be happening. Should I sneak them all into the main coop at night, or temporary take away all other roosting options? Or do you think I should just let them go in when they’re ready? They all seem to be getting along fine during the day and the main coop has plenty of roosting space available.
