Hubby opened the coop door like usual this morning and the chicks (5 weeks today) came right out but we’re having a random cold day. It’s only 50 out there/65 for the high, but they all came out of the coop and are happily scratching around. Will they cuddle up or know to go back into coop under heater if they get cold? Or am I assuming they know how to take care of themselves more than they are actually capable?

I usually keep an eye on the chicks when introduced to coop/run. I've had a few that were too dumb to go back in at night but it usually just took a few days before they all had it down pat.
