Chicks on hardware cloth?

Quick question... My hen kept moving her nest off the nice, clean hay back onto bare hardware cloth (in the corner where the rest of the girls like to poop). We just had our first pip, and I'm worried the poor chick will get scratched or hurt on the hardware cloth. I don't want to move her or the eggs unless it's really necessary, though, especially since mom didn't want to be there. Any advice?

I would try to put on straw or hay under her so the chicks have some feeting and leave where she is. She feels safe there.
