My first piece of advice is to start building your 8x6 coop with attached secure 8x16 run right now for those girls. They grow FAST and you will not want them in the house past the 4th week, if that.

Good luck and Orpingtons are great. The brooding in the house notation made me chuckle. Last night my wife told me she really didn't want to brood any more chicks in the house. I laughed and asked her if she really thought that was likely and what a kick it was when the neighbors see me carrying my 2' x 6' cattle trough brooder into the house.
